Irish Blessing

May the roads rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again

May God hold you~

In the hollow of his hand...

~St. Patrick~

Apostle of Ireland, born at Kilpatrick,

near Dumbarton, in Scotland, in the

year 415?; died at Saul, Downpatrick,

Ireland, 17th March, 493?

St. Patrick's Day is Ireland's greatest national holiday as well as

a holy day. The date marks the anniversary of the death of the

missionary who became the Patron Saint of Ireland. It is a happy

holiday for the Irish wherever they may be.

A day celebrated with parades, speeches, festive dinners,

and dances. Green is the color of the day,

with thousands of little cloth shamrocks worn even by those

whose forefathers never touched the shores of Ireland.

It is known that St. Patrick was born in Britain to wealthy parents

near the end of the fourth century. At the age of sixteen, Patrick

was taken prisoner by a group of Irish raiders who were attacking

his family's estate. They transported him to Ireland where he spent

six years in captivity. During this time, he worked as a shepherd,

outdoors and away from people. Lonely and afraid, he turned to

his religion for solace, becoming a devout Christian.

The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland, but in

the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched

through New York City on March 17, 1762. Along with their music, the

parade helped the soldiers to reconnect with their Irish roots, as well

as fellow Irishmen serving in the English army. Suddenly, annual

St. Patrick's Day parades became a show of strength for Irish

Americans... A well attend event by many people from around

the world as well as many of our political candidates. One has

to have attended one of these parades to visualize the

the beauty and glory of this event...

When Iris Eye's are smiling

Sing Along {smile}

There's a tear in your eye,
And I'm wondering why,
For it never should be there at all.
With such pow'r in your smile,
Sure a stone you'd beguile,
So there's never a teardrop should fall.
When your sweet lilting laughter's
Like some fairy song,
And your eyes twinkle bright as can be;
You should laugh all the while
And all other times smile,
And now, smile a smile for me.

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away.

For your smile is a part
Of the love in your heart,
And it makes even sunshine more bright.
Like the linnet's sweet song,
Crooning all the day long,
Comes your laughter and light.
For the springtime of life
Is the sweetest of all
There is ne'er a real care or regret;
And while springtime is ours
Throughout all of youth's hours,
Let us smile each chance we get.

When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away

Quote

“Christ shield me this day: Christ with me, Christ before me,

Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down,

Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every person who

thinks of me, Christ in the eye that sees me,

Christ in the ear that hears me”

(from “The Breastplate of St. Patrick”).

~Who Said You have to be Irish to join in

this wonderful Celebration~

St. Patrick day is a joyful and holy day;

not only do we celebrate the wonderful legacy

with which St. Patrick's left us but we also enjoy

the joyfulness of the day in which the Irish

and non-Irish alike share in making St. Patrick Day,

a day of unity, love, camaraderie, music,

festivities and loads of fun.  Not to mention the

wonderful foods to go with these festivities...

May the love of St. Patrick for Jesus be in our

hearts and may we share it with other

on this most joyful day!

~Top 'O The Morning to All~

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
