WE KNOW WE ARE GETTING OLDER
WHEN:
Our
Birthday candles stand for decades...
Instead of years.....
And we start to look like
our driver's licenses photos...
We run out of places to store stuff
And wish we'd hung on to the seven dwarfs jelly glasses
instead of the National Geographic's.
We avoid all-you-can-eat restaurants
because we can't eat all we can eat...
We have to admit the old movie we thought was so sexy
is really pretty corny...
And we feel smug because the kids today
can't jitterbug worth a darn....
We read articles on dietary fiber
and capital preservation...
Go through the alphabet a lot trying to remember names
and hope to Heaven our empty nest never fills up again
Our idea of a swell party is one
that includes dinner and gets us home by ten...
"You're only young once" no longer applies as an excuse
or ordering a large DOUBLE CHEESE PIZZA....
We study the labels at the supermarket
making sure there are no unhealthy ingredients... And "life in the fast lane"
is going through the checkout with eight items or less...
We know we're getting older when...
Our concept of "old" keeps getting older...
And we find that being able to laugh at ourselves...
Is what keeps us young!
